When the Concrete Truck Can't Get Close Enough
A concrete truck needs a firm, level surface, sufficient width to manoeuvre, and a clear path to within approximately 3–4 metres of the pour point for chute discharge. In Adelaide's residential suburbs, that requirement is rarely met for rear yards, extensions behind existing houses, pool excavations, or sloped blocks. The result, without a pump, is wheelbarrows — slow, labour-intensive, and prone to quality issues as concrete stiffens in transit.
Our mobile line pump eliminates that problem. The pump truck parks on the road, driveway, or verge and flexible rubber hose is run through gates, along side passages, up slopes, or around structures to the exact placement point. With up to 100 metres of hose, we reach almost any residential or commercial site in Adelaide.
Difficult Access Situations We Handle
- Narrow side passages — the hose fits through any standard gate or gap of 600mm or wider. We regularly run hose through passages that no vehicle could enter.
- Rear yards blocked by existing structures — where a home extension, granny flat, or garage slab is entirely behind the existing house, the hose goes around the building.
- Sloped blocks — common in the Adelaide Hills suburbs of Stirling, Hahndorf, and Mount Barker. Our pump maintains consistent pressure uphill or across elevation changes.
- Urban infill sites — tight inner-suburb builds where the construction envelope leaves no room for vehicle access alongside the structure.
- Elevated slabs — second-storey or elevated slab pours where vertical pumping is required.
- Sites with existing landscaping — where driving a truck onto a property would cause damage to gardens, lawns, or existing paths, we pump from the street.
Our line pump can push pumpable concrete horizontally up to approximately 100 metres from the pump position, and vertically up to approximately 30 metres, depending on mix properties and aggregate size. For unusually long runs, we assess the specific job requirements at quoting stage to confirm feasibility.
Planning a Difficult Access Pour
Difficult access jobs benefit from slightly more pre-pour planning than standard residential pours. When you contact us, it helps to describe:
- The access path from the road to the pour point — gate width, surface type, any steps or obstacles the hose must pass over or around
- Approximate hose run distance from where the truck will park to the placement point
- Whether there is any vertical component — pumping uphill or to an elevated slab adds to the pressure requirement
- Any overhead obstacles (power lines, pergola roofs, awnings) the hose must clear during the run
With this information, we can confirm the setup in advance and arrive on the day prepared for an efficient pour without any surprises.
